| The MR is made up from a collection of the earlier Mamod Steam Railway Co. & the MSS Railway systems. The Mamod Steam Railway Co. was in production from 1980 to 1989. Several styles of locomotives were produced all of which were built around the standard 0-4-0t SL1 engine. The all metal rolling stock included a passenger coach, box van, low sided truck, guards van, flatbed wagon and log wagon which carried three pieces of timber made from expanded polystyrene. All of these were built onto their standard 4 wheeled chassis. Although production ceased in 1989 the railway was reborn in 1996 under the name of MSS. The MSS locos are made with an improved piston/cylinder which should give them a longer life. Other items of the MR stock have been built in my own RVLR Workshops to the same loading gauge as the Mamod/MSS. |
